During a Metal Building Repair service call or consulting appointment, a fee is charged to cover the costs of sending a technician to the job site to review the repair work request.

In the metal building industry, a Repair Service Call fee and consulting fees can vary depending on the service provider, the job location, and the specific nature of the call.

Why do businesses charge service call fees?

Businesses charge service call fees to pay their workers, and to pay for the costs associated with traveling to a customer’s location, including time, fuel, and wear and tear on vehicles. Due to the fact that a service call prevents the technician from working on other jobs or handling other responsibilities, businesses must charge for service calls.

The service call consulting fee pays for the technicians’ overhead costs and travel time. Additionally, it pays for the time spent diagnosing the problem, whether repairs are needed or not, and whether or not repairs will be performed.

What is the Repair Service Call Fee for 60-minutes?

1-hour is allotted per appointment. The fee includes travel to and from the jobsite, as well as consultation time, for a total of 60 minutes.

A service call out repair consulting fee starts at $129 during normal business hours per our availability and work schedule. The fee does not cover performing REPAIR labor or repair materials during the service call.

Credit Issuance for Service Call Fee?

In most cases, but not all, service call fees paid up front will be credited back to the customer once we have completed all repairs we have estimated and reviewed. A credit for service call fees may appear on the closing statement balance.

What happens during a Repair Service Call?

In most cases, the technician or inspector will make recommendations for repairs based on a visual, noninvasive assessment from the ground level.

Is the repair cost quote provided during the service call?

No. We do not provide a price quote or estimate during the repair service call for repair work.

How soon will I receive the repair cost quote?

In most cases, the estimated cost of repairs will be provided by email within two weeks of the service call date.

NOTE: For large jobs, we will need a longer timeline to provide a cost estimate, we must first obtain vendor material quote pricing.

What is not included during the Repair Service Call appointment?

Estimated repair cost and prices are not included or provided during the repair service call.
Service calls do not include providing repair materials or performing repair work.
Roof walking is not included in the repair service call.
Material removal or relocating is not included in the repair service call.
Hand-digging or machine excavating is not included during the repair service call.

How is the Metal Building Repair work priced?

All Repair work is time and materials cost plus fee. The Estimate for repairs is the estimated cost of materials, labor, and equipment plus a fee with a guaranteed maximum not to exceed price.

Am I obligated to to Accept the Repair Estimate quote?

No, you are not. A service call fee is separate from a repair estimate quote and is charged whether the estimate is accepted or not. As a matter of good business practice, we will credit the service call fee back to you (as stated herein), and we will perform the service call for free.

Typical Fee for a Repair Service Call Consultation?

Even if a diagnostic report is provided for free, the average minimum service call fee for metal building companies is $150 nationwide in 2025.
