Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is an optional spray foam insulation in our Star Building System

For Inco Brand Buildings only, spray foam (SPF) is avalible

Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF)

From concept to completion, Inco handles the entire project from start to finish including spray foam insulation.

Closed-cell Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF): Closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is the type of closed-cell insulation commonly used for metal buildings; it contains polyurethane and/or polyisocyanurate materials. When applied, an air- and moisture-tight seal is created on metal surfaces by this type of foam due to its high R-value, structural reinforcement, and high R-value.  Closed-cell spray foam insulation is denser, more expensive, and can provide more insulation in a thinner layer.

Typical Spray Foam Insulation Costs

The estimated cost to insulate a 50x100x16 (red Iron, I-Beam Steel) metal building with Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is approximately $22,000 plus fees. R-42 value is proposed in the roof/ceiling.  R-24 value is proposed in the walls.

Thermal, Air, Water, Vapor Barrier Seal

Thermal, Air, Water, Vapor Barrier Seal: Applied as a single component, closed-cell spray polyurethane foam can provide a complete air, water, and vapor barrier for metal buildings. Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) provides a thermal barrier, is dense and water-resistant, and creates an airtight seal by filling gaps and cracks.

Codes in North Carolina, Spray Foam Insulation

Application: For spray foam insulation, North Carolina building codes and energy codes address fire safety and energy efficiency, and require specific flame spread and smoke-developed indexes, an ignition barrier to protect it from the interior, and proper application techniques to control moisture.

The R-Value of Spray Form Insulation

R-Value Assemblies: The total R-value for Ceiling assemblies and Wall assemblies.

R-value per inch of thickness for (SPF): *R-6 to R-6.5   *Base Calculations* The following foam manufacturers provide higher R-value densities per inch of thickness: UPC Foam Products offers high R-Value Foam Products

R-Value Walls (SPF): Closed-cell spray foam has an R-value of approximately R-6 to R-6.5 per inch thickness, approximately 2.5 inches of thickness would be needed to meet the R-15 [Wall Assembly] requirement.

R-Value Ceilings (SPF): Closed-cell spray foam has an R-value of approximately R-6 to R-6.5 per inch thickness, approximately 6.5 inches of thickness would be needed to meet the R-38 [Ceiling Assembly] requirement.

Installer Certification for Spray Foam Insulation

Certification by Foam Installer: The spray foam installer must provide certification detailing the type of foam installed, the R-value, thickness, and density of the installed foam to demonstrate energy code compliance, and installed thickness for the areas covered.

REScheck | Compliance | Spray Foam Insulation

REScheck software applications help builders, designers, and contractors demonstrate compliance with energy codes, and create compliance reports for code officials.

REScheck: REScheck software app is used to calculate a buildings’ U-factor x Area (UA) values. The spray foam installer must provide precise R-values and thickness information for the REScheck report to be accurate.

Code Compliance. Before work is started – prior to spray foam installation: Consult the local presiding Building Inspection Department about all related local energy codes, building codes, and thermal code compliance for the intended use and building type application.

John, I wanted to take a quick moment and thank you once more for construction of our horse barn. We are delighted with the final outcome and will enjoy it for years to come. As I started this process, I shopped all of the online advertisements and struggled to compare quality and cost against the various companies. In addition, none of these companies were local which raised concerns on overall support. I was happy to find you were local and I appreciated your help in the design process, your input on building functionality, and your overall support through the entire process. It is construction, so there were and will always be challenges, but you solved those challenges and we’re committed to our project through the very end, I am not sure how some of these online companies would have solved those challenges other than hand them back to the homeowner. The barn is beautiful with tremendous attention to detail and so I say once more, thank you. Please feel free to use this message to share with prospective clients.
